Some people prioritize to buy a big house, big renovations, summer cottage, winter cottage, sailing boat etc and have a fixed cost level that makes it difficult to do any extended travels. We have prioritized travelling in our lives and had a long-term plan to make this year off travelling possible.

We know that we are lucky as we have had the opportunity to work with a relatively good pay in the IT and pharmaceutical business for many years and our children have move out.

It would be very, very unfair to say that anyone in the civilized world could do what we did. Our point however is that many people could do a similar thing if they made different priorities and had the courage to change their normal, expected pattern in life.
The payback is new values and perspectives and elimination of the daily stress and of course a lot of fantastic experiences, memories and new friends.

If you have any questions on the budget for this kind of project please feel free to contact us. Just to give you an example – during one year we spent on average $ 20 per person/night on accommodation. Then we stayed and low/middle class hotels, hostels with double room and private bungalows.

As Eva had her 50: th birthday during our journey we got presents from family and friends that we used for some accommodation, dinners and adventures.
