Ecuador and Peru

Ecuador has the jungle of Amazonas, the Volcano Mountains of the Andes and the sandy beaches of Pacific Ocean – and a lot of other things as well.

This is one of the countries you might end up with some stomach problem!

We spent some time at Patrick at Hostel Jhomana in Quito and made excursions to the market in Otavalo, the hot springs of Papallacta and went to the equator line.

During one week at Galapagos we encountered all the animals and birds that you expect to see on these islands. We also did some scuba diving and on one of the dives we dove down on a school of hammerhead sharks!!

Amazonas is a great adventure. We went to the Ecuadorian part of Amazonas and spent some time with the local people who taught us how they for generations have used the trees, plants, insects and animals to survive.
After Ecuador we went to Peru. The best way to start studying the Inca culture is to visit some of the museums in Lima. After Lima we went to Cuzco and spent some days in the surroundings including the Urubamba Valley.

The highlight in Peru was the visit to Machu Picchu.

We took the bus from Cuzco to Lake Titicaca where we visited the floating islands and Taquile and the flew back to Lima to visit Anders old school mate.
