Koh Chang - EvAnders on vacation (!!??) in Thailand!!

Thailand (Bangkok, Koh Chang and Hua Hin) 2006-07-13

Vacation!!! How can we say that we are on vacation when we are out traveling for One year? Well, it felt like holiday when we arrived in Bangkok where Lina and Peter where waiting for us. They made all the decision on what to do in Bangkok and we just followed them. Bangkok by the way is a very, very busy city with some very nice temples. Everywhere people are trying to fool you “Sorry but it is closed – I can show you a very nice place or restaurant” and it’s pretty dirty everywhere. Kuala Lumpur and Singapore is like “small towns on the country-side” compared to Bangkok and we prefer the country-side.

After two nights in Bangkok we joined Lina and Peter to a place they have found in Koh Chang – approx. 5 hours by bus from Bangkok called Aana Resort. This place is perfect for Lina and Peter who have been working like hell the last six months. It’s a fantastic place and we stayed most of the time at the resort and took massage, watched Italy win World Cup and ate at one of the pools at the Resort most of the time.

US $80 for a double room including a magnificent breakfast is definitely more than our budget but it was really worth it – very smart to go here in low season – cheap and no people!!

Well, we did some things during these days – we had a Thai cooking school that the Outlet Manager fixed. Good plan as we in a couple of months will stay in our own kitchen again and we spent some time at the Gym and did some kayaking. 5 times we fell over board when we went out in the waves!!

After 5 days without any decision – well we had to make a decision if we should have lunch at the lower or upper pool – we jumped into a bus again. Back to Bangkok and then we headed South. Lina and Peter had found some nice places at Koh Tao but we jumped off the bus in Hua Hin to meet and stay at one of Anders colleagues in the IT-industry.

Worth waiting for - Dicken and Lotta enjoys a cold Thai beer. Click to enlarge.Dick and Lotta Olofsson have built a house here in Hua Hin. They have a lovely house and we get to know some of their Swedish friends that are building or have just finished their house projects – it s VERY popular for Swedes to build houses in Hua Hin!! We explore Hua Hin and spend time at their pool (with a beer or two) and tomorrow we are planning to play some golf. During the weekend we will rejoin with Lina and Peter again – now in Koh Tao.

It is so easy to travel here in Southeast Asia so after Koh Tao we have no plans – maybe we go to Northern Thailand or Burma or Laos or Cambodia or Vietnam or…………….

Lots of greetings – especially for those who are on holiday or soon will have holiday. Njoy it!!!
